Founded by Paul Hedge and Paul Maslin in 1992, Hales opened as a contemporary art space in Deptford, South London. Now, Hales has galleries located in Shoreditch, London and Chelsea, Manhattan. Since its formation the gallery has remained committed to promoting a greater understanding of works by an international, cross-generational roster of artists, creating an environment for the development and distribution of artworks and ideas. For nearly three decades Hales has been a focal point for artists, collectors and institutions alike. At the core of the gallery’s principles is the fostering of emerging talents alongside historically significant figures. The gallery prides itself on consistently and attentively supporting its artist’s careers, as well as its work to stimulate important re-evaluations of the careers of 20th and 21st century artists.
